Prof Arun Jamkar, Distinguished Professor, SIU Pune and Consultant, Health care, Persistent Systems Ltd., has been awarded senior membership of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). Senior membership is a significant accomplishment, awarded only to individuals who have demonstrated a sustained record of professional accomplishments and a commitment to the advancement of the profession.
Dr. Arun Prasad, Surgical Gastroenterology, Bariatric and Robotic Surgery, New Delhi, has published a paper titled “Achieving Surgical, Obstetric, Trauma, and Anesthesia (SOTA) care for all in South Asia” in “Frontiers in Public Health”.

Dr. Ashish Aneja, Senior Medical Officer, Kurukshetra University has organised a free health check-up camp and awareness lecture on Cervical Cancer, Anaemia, diet and nutrition for Village women’s and girls in nearby villages of Kurukshetra. In this camp, free tests like Hb, RBS, TSH, BMD, neuropathy were done and free iron and calcium tablets were distributed by Dr. Ashish Aneja among the needy patients. More than 250 patients were present.
Dr. Ashish has also received the Inspiring Indian Award & Youth World Diamond Award 2024 for his social work done for last 12 years. The Award function was organised by ARK foundation team and DD news.
Dr. Ashish has also received Certificate of Appreciation in Diabetic Conference Decode 2024.
Dr Avula Laxmaiah, National Secretary, NSI Scientist and Head of Division of Public Health Nutrition at ICMR-National Institute of Nutrition has published one global paper on ‘double burden of disease – underweight and obesity among children and adults in the Lancet, 29-02-2024.
The paper was widely discussed and salient points were published in the Indian Express.

Dr. Bidita Khandelwal, Director, Directorate of Research, Professor and Ex-HOD , Department of Medicine Sikkim Manipal University have been selected for “VR Joshi JAPI Award for Outstanding Referee” for the year 2023 for scrutinizing the articles published in the Journal of the Association of Physicians of India (JAPI).The award certificate was presented during the 79th Annual General Body meeting of API held on 22nd February, 2024 at 5.00 PM at Venue of the APICON 2024, Bharat Mandapam, International Exhibition-cum-Convention Centre (IECC), New Delhi.
Dr. Bidita has delivered the Dr A B Dutta Chowdhuri oration on 18th February 2024 during the 7th annual conference NBDCON 24.
Dr. Bidita has delivered a talk on the topic “Good, bad and ugly of AI in healthcare” at APICON 2024 on 24th February 2024.

Dr. Keerti Singh, Lecturer, Faculty of Medical Sciences, Cave Hill campus, Barbados, University of the West Indies, on 15th February 2024 had attended WHO HFE series webinar on ‘Strengthening pandemic preparedness and response through integrated modelling’ organized by WHO-OECD-World Bank guide on Strengthening Pandemic Preparedness and Response through integrated Modelling and to discuss how the lessons learnt from the COVID-19 pandemic.
Dr. Keerti on 24th February 2024 has successfully completed the Advanced Trauma and Life Support (ATLS) course by passing the qualifying exam according to the standards established by the American College of Surgeons (ACS) committee on Trauma, certified until 2028.
Dr. Keerti on 25th February 2024 has received award of appreciation from the Program Director and Chairperson of ACS, State committee on Trauma.
Dr. Narinder Kapur, Visiting Professor of Neuropsychology, University College London, have been invited to give the 2024 annual Gandhi-King lecture at the University of West Virginia, USA. This is an annual lecture in memory of Mahatma Gandhi and Martin Luther King. My talk is entitled, ‘King, Gandhi, Justice and Wellbeing’, and it will be delivered on Oct 2, on Mahatma Gandhi’s birthday.
Dr. Narinder along with colleagues in India and the UK, have published a book about an Indian patient who had a stroke following COVID. She describes her recovery, and is also an author of the book
Dr. Narinder donates royalties from most of his books to the Arpana Hospital in India, to help local village families.
Dr. N Dutta, Chairman & Managing Director of Down Town Hospital, on behalf of Down Town Group received ‘Excellence in Business’ award at Pratidin Achiever’s Awards 2023 for its exemplary contributions to the fields of education and social initiatives.
Dr. Premkumar Balachandran, Senior consultant and clinical lead at Chennai has been appointed as Specialty Director, Hernia and AWR, association of robotic and innovative surgeons (ARIS).
He has delivered a faculty lecture in “Robotic conclave 24” held in Global Hospital, Mumbai.
His paper “Hernia sac preservation for prevention of transversus abdominis release in laparoscopic extended totally extra peritoneal repair of ventral hernia – A minimalistic solution for a formidable challenge” published in “Journal of abdominal wall surgery” the official journal of the European Hernia Society is now indexed in Pubmed.
