GAPIO 2026 Concludes Successfully in Indore, Providing New Direction to Global Healthcare Collaboration

Indore, India: Indore hosted one of Central India’s most significant international medical gatherings. The 16th Annual Conference of the Global Association of Physicians of Indian Origin (GAPIO), held on 14–15 February 2026 at The Brilliant Convention Centre, concluded successfully.

The two-day conference witnessed participation from more than 480 delegates from India and abroad, including eminent physicians, academicians, researchers, policymakers, and healthcare innovators.

The theme of the conference was “Advanced Healthcare: Addressing the Future of Global Health Challenges.” The objective was to deliberate on solutions to emerging global health challenges, integration of technological innovations, and the future direction of modern healthcare systems.

GAPIO currently represents physicians of Indian origin from 59 countries, with a membership base representing over 1.4 million doctors worldwide. The organization once again reinforced its global leadership role in international academic collaboration and knowledge exchange.

Key Highlights of Scientific Sessions

The scientific sessions on the first day covered detailed discussions on Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery, Endocrinology, Obesity and Vaccination, Urology, Hepatology, Orthopedics and Joint Replacement, and Integrative Healthcare.

More than 50 national and international experts presented insights on cutting-edge research, minimally invasive techniques, preventive strategies, and multidisciplinary treatment approaches. The sessions provided a platform for rich academic dialogue and knowledge sharing.

Awards and Felicitation Ceremony

During the evening Healthcare Awards Ceremony, distinguished professionals were honored for their outstanding contributions to the medical field. The awards were presented by Indore Member of Parliament Shankar Lalwani as the Chief Guest.

Special Sessions on Day Two

The second day featured parallel summits on Nutrition and Physiotherapy.

The Nutrition Summit focused on longevity science, obesity management, pediatric and renal nutrition, neuro-nutrition, and lifestyle strategies in the GLP-1 era.

The Physiotherapy Summit included discussions on technology-driven treatment models, pelvic floor health, and cardiopulmonary rehabilitation.

Leadership Perspectives

Former President Dr. Anupam Sibal stated that GAPIO serves as a powerful global platform connecting physicians of Indian origin and plays a vital role in shaping the future healthcare framework.

Newly elected President Dr. Sudhir Parikh emphasized strengthening global partnerships, mentoring young doctors, and promoting innovation-driven healthcare reforms.

Immediate Past President Dr. Nandakumar Jairam highlighted the organization’s continued commitment to ethical medical practice and academic excellence.

Vice President Dr. Rohini Sridhar noted that multidisciplinary collaboration in areas such as nutrition and physiotherapy is key to building sustainable healthcare systems.

Secretary General Dr. Abhijat Sheth appreciated the enthusiastic participation of delegates and the excellence of the event, stating that GAPIO 2026 has set new benchmarks in academic quality and global engagement.

इंदौर ने मध्य भारत के सबसे महत्वपूर्ण अंतरराष्ट्रीय चिकित्सा आयोजनों में से एक की मेजबानी की। 14–15 फरवरी 2026 को द ब्रिलियंट कन्वेंशन सेंटर में आयोजित ग्लोबल एसोसिएशन ऑफ फिजिशियंस ऑफ इंडियन ओरिजिन (GAPIO) के 16वें वार्षिक सम्मेलन का सफल समापन हुआ।

दो दिवसीय इस सम्मेलन में भारत और विदेशों से 480 से अधिक प्रतिनिधियों ने भाग लिया। इनमें प्रतिष्ठित चिकित्सक, शिक्षाविद, शोधकर्ता, नीति-निर्माता और स्वास्थ्य क्षेत्र के नवाचारकर्ता शामिल रहे।

सम्मेलन की थीम थी — “एडवांस हेल्थकेयर: ग्लोबल हेल्थ चैलेंजेस के भविष्य को संबोधित करना”। इसका उद्देश्य भविष्य की वैश्विक स्वास्थ्य चुनौतियों के समाधान, तकनीकी नवाचारों के समावेश और आधुनिक स्वास्थ्य सेवाओं की नई दिशा पर चर्चा करना था।

GAPIO में वर्तमान में 59 देशों से भारतीय चिकित्सक सदस्य हैं, 14 लाख से अधिक भारतीय मूल के चिकित्सकों का प्रतिनिधित्व करता है, ने एक बार फिर अंतरराष्ट्रीय शैक्षणिक सहयोग और ज्ञान-विनिमय में अपनी वैश्विक नेतृत्व भूमिका को सुदृढ़ किया।

वैज्ञानिक सत्रों की मुख्य विशेषताएँ

पहले दिन आयोजित वैज्ञानिक सत्रों में कार्डियोलॉजी एवं कार्डियक सर्जरी, एंडोक्रिनोलॉजी, मोटापा एवं वैक्सीनेशन, यूरोलॉजी, हेपेटोलॉजी, ऑर्थोपेडिक्स एवं जॉइंट रिप्लेसमेंट तथा इंटीग्रेटिव हेल्थकेयर जैसे विषयों पर विस्तृत चर्चा हुई।

50 से अधिक राष्ट्रीय एवं अंतरराष्ट्रीय विशेषज्ञों ने अत्याधुनिक शोध, न्यूनतम इनवेसिव तकनीकों, रोकथाम आधारित रणनीतियों और बहु-विषयक उपचार पद्धतियों पर अपने विचार प्रस्तुत किए। इन सत्रों ने समृद्ध शैक्षणिक संवाद और ज्ञान-साझा करने का अवसर प्रदान किया।

शाम को आयोजित  हेल्थकेयर अवार्ड्स समारोह में चिकित्सा क्षेत्र में उत्कृष्ट योगदान देने वाले विशेषज्ञों को सम्मानित किया गया। मुख्य अतिथि के रूप में इंदौर के सांसद श्री शंकर लालवानी ने पुरस्कार प्रदान किए।

GAPIO लाइफटाइम अचीवमेंट अवार्ड अमेरिका के डॉ. राजेश व्यास को प्रदान किया गया।
डॉ. प्रताप सी. रेड्डी फिलैंथ्रॉपी अवार्ड ‘डॉक्टर्स फॉर यू (DFY)’ के संस्थापक निदेशक डॉ. रविकांत सिंह को प्रदान किया गया।

दूसरे दिन के विशेष सत्र

दूसरे दिन न्यूट्रिशन और फिजियोथेरेपी पर समानांतर विशेष सम्मेलनों का आयोजन हुआ।

न्यूट्रिशन समिट में दीर्घायु विज्ञान, मोटापा प्रबंधन, बाल एवं किडनी पोषण, न्यूरो-न्यूट्रिशन तथा GLP-1 युग में जीवनशैली रणनीतियों पर चर्चा हुई।

फिजियोथेरेपी समिट में तकनीक आधारित उपचार मॉडल, पेल्विक फ्लोर स्वास्थ्य और कार्डियोपल्मोनरी पुनर्वास जैसे विषयों पर विचार-विमर्श हुआ।

नेतृत्व के विचार

GAPIO के पूर्व अध्यक्ष डॉ. अनुपम सिबल ने कहा कि यह संगठन भारतीय मूल के चिकित्सकों को वैश्विक स्तर पर जोड़ने वाला एक सशक्त मंच है, जो भविष्य के स्वास्थ्य ढांचे को आकार देने में महत्वपूर्ण भूमिका निभा रहा है।

नवनिर्वाचित अध्यक्ष डॉ. सुधीर पारिख ने बताया कि GAPIO वैश्विक साझेदारी को और मजबूत करेगा, युवा चिकित्सकों का मार्गदर्शन करेगा तथा नवाचार आधारित स्वास्थ्य सुधारों को बढ़ावा देगा।

इमीडिएट पास्ट प्रेसिडेंट डॉ. नंदकुमार जयराम ने संगठन की निरंतरता, नैतिक चिकित्सा और अकादमिक उत्कृष्टता के प्रति प्रतिबद्धता पर बल दिया।

उपाध्यक्ष डॉ. रोहिणी श्रीधर ने कहा कि पोषण और फिजियोथेरेपी जैसे क्षेत्रों में बहु-विषयक सहयोग ही भविष्य की स्थायी स्वास्थ्य प्रणालियों की कुंजी है।

सेक्रेटरी जनरल डॉ. अभिजात शेठ ने प्रतिनिधियों की उत्साहपूर्ण भागीदारी और उत्कृष्ट आयोजन की सराहना करते हुए कहा कि GAPIO 2026 ने शैक्षणिक गुणवत्ता और वैश्विक सहभागिता के नए मानक स्थापित किए हैं।
