Global Healthcare Summit (GHS), organized jointly by Global Association of Physicians of Indian Origin (GAPIO) and American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin (AAPI) was held on 28th – 30th December 2018 at Hotel Trident, Nariman Point, Mumbai, India.
Hon’ble Shri Ram Nath Kovind, President of India inaugurated the conference. Hon’ble Shri C Vidyasagar Rao, Governor of Maharashtra and Hon’ble Shri Devendra Fadnavis, Chief Minister of Maharashtra were present.
Hon’ble President told the delegates – how does one achieve that perfect triangle of quality, cost and access? One way is to build alliances – between doctors and patient groups, between civil society and industry, between researchers and practitioners and ultimately between countries.
Hon’ble President was further concerned about another shared challenge of life-style diseases – such as diabetes and obesity – which is a serious public health issue both in India and the US. The prevention and management of life-style diseases offers scope for cooperation, including by bringing traditional Indian wellness practices to modern medical systems.
Leading Physicians and healthcare professionals from across the country and overseas converged onto Mumbai to exchange knowledge and best practices on recent global medical advances, to develop vibrant and viable health policy agendas, and address growing healthcare challenges.
Scientific sessions focusing on Oncology, GI/Liver, Cardiology, Urology, NCD’s, Allergy & Immunology, Diabetes, Women’s Health and Chronic Kidney Disease were held on 29th and 30th December 2018.
CEO forum discussed ways to ensure healthcare for all, lower cost and effective medicines to make India the world leader in this field. The CEO forum also had a special discussion on finding ways to successfully implement “AYUSHMAN BHARAT”.
Women’s forum was inaugurated by Ms. Amruta Fadnavis, First Lady of Maharashtra.
