IV Annual conference of GAPIO from 11th January 2014 to 12th January 2014
Kolkata: There is a lot of excitement among the medical community as the city prepares to host a two-day International Conference from 11th January to 12th January 2014 to discuss solutions in healthcare for improving health worldwide.
Kolkata is hosting this summit for the first time. This event aims to deliberate measure which can be taken with the help of Indian doctors working in India and overseas for better healthcare delivery across the globe.
Dr. Prathap C Reddy Chairman Apollo Hospitals Group is the key figure behind this conference which shall focus on the theme “The Non communicable Diseases Epidemic – Meeting the Challenges”. More than 300 delegates are expected from India and overseas.
This International Conference is being organised by the Global Association of Physicians of Indian Origin, which shall be held at Hotel ITC Sonar. Shri. Amit Mitra, Hon’ble Minister of Finance, Commerce and Industry, Govt. of West Bengal will be the Chief Guest at the conference.
Renowned National and International faculty will give talks covering seven clinical sessions comprising of Cardiac Sciences, Neurosciences, Diabetes, Gastroenterology and Liver Transplantation, Robotics, Nephrology / Kidney Transplantation and Oncology during this conference.
GAPIO is a nonprofit organization and its vision is “Improving Health Worldwide”. GAPIO stands to empower physicians of Indian origin to achieve highest professional standards, to provide affordable good quality healthcare, to contribute to local and regional community development and thereby help to reduce health inequalities and alleviate suffering globally.
GAPIO is actively embarking upon community service projects. Free Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Camp was organized by GAPIO from 10th – 13th January 2013 at Apollo Hospitals Bilaspur. A record number of 105 surgeries were performed during the four days camp ranging from cleft lip, cleft palate, palatal fistula, polydactyly, hypospadias, ptosis eyes, to burn contractures of face and neck, external dermoid cyst and hand and palm contractures.
This is just the beginning for GAPIO and there is a long journey ahead.
