Dr. Ramesh Mehta has handed over his charge to Dr. Anupam Sibal who will be the President of Global Association of Physicians of Indian Origin for the next 3 years.

Dr. Anupam Sibal has shared his vision for the next 3 years with the EC members. Important decisions taken during the EC meeting were shared with the members of Presidents’ Council during the PC meeting.
Dr. Sibal seeks support from all the office bearers, member of EC and all members of GAPIO and request all of them for active participation and contribution to take GAPIO to the new heights.
Dr. B J Subhedar – Chief Guest and Dr Vikas Amte – Guest of Honour, inaugurated the conference on 4th January 2020.
Renowned speakers from across the world covered various topics under Cardiology, Neurology, Nephrology, Oncology, Gastroenterology, Endocrinology, Bariatric Surgery and Tuberculosis / Pulmonology.
Young Doctor’s Forum, Medical Education workshop, Artificial Intelligence and Medical Apps, Women’s forum and Pediatric workshops by IAP were the major attractions of the conference. A Round Table meeting on Global Workforce Crises was also held which made recommendations to the Government.
GAPIO award ceremony was held on 4th January 2020 at CP Club Nagpur.
GAPIO Lifetime Achievement Award was conferred on Padma Bhushan Dr. M. K. Mani, a renowned Nephrologist from Apollo Hospitals, Chennai for his greatest contribution to the community by Shri Ajay Sancheti, former Member of Rajya Sabha.
GAPIO Special Contribution Award was conferred on Dr. Ramesh Mehta who gave new direction to GAPIO and brought GAPIO to new heights during his Presidentship. Awards were also presented to young doctors for poster and paper presentation.
The conference was accredited by Maharashtra Medical Council.
It was announced by Dr. Ramesh Mehta, President of BAPIO and former President of GAPIO that BAPIO training academy will soon provide opportunity to fresh Indian graduates to train under 2+2 programme. It will provide 2 years training in a paid job in Indian hospitals followed by 2 years paid job in UK in collaboration with Royal college of Physicians of Edinburgh.
