GAPIO Members Honours list – October 2024

Dr Arun Garg, Program Medical Director for the South Asian Health Institute, honored with “Lifetime Time Achievement”, the highest award given at Fraser Health to a staff member under the banner of “Above and Beyond”.

Dr Arun Prasad, Surgical Gastroenterology, Clinical Lead, GI & Bariatric, at New Delhi, has co-authored “MGB-OAGB International Club- Results of a Modified Delphi Consensus on Controversies in OAGB”, which has been accepted for publication in “Obesity Surgery” journal, the global number 1 journal for Bariatric Surgery with highest impact factor.

Dr. Bellamkonda Kishore, Adjunct Professor of Medicine, University of Utah Health; President, CEO & CSO, ePurines, Inc., Univ. of Utah Research Park, Salt Lake City, UT, USA, on October 2nd, on the eve of the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, was bestowed Mahatma Gandhi Leadership Award by the NRI Welfare Society of India*, in a ceremony that was held at the Oxford University, United Kingdom.  Dr. Kishore is an academician and innovator who turned to entrepreneurship recently.

Dr. Keerti Singh, Senior Lecturer, Faculty of Medical Sciences, Cave Hill campus, Barbados, University of the West Indies, has been appointed as a member of the University of the West Indies Cave Hill Campus Interfaculty Time Tabling Committee, being the MBBS Phase 1 Coordinator.

Dr Keerti has been elected as a two-year Director of the Executive Committee of the Optimist Club of Barbados North. Optimist year 2024 – 2026.

Dr Komal Kushwaha, Principal – BRD Medical College Gorakhpur, U. P.; has been awarded P Sudarshan Reddy oration by Sushena Foundation, Hyderabad.

Dr O. P. Sharma, Sr. Consultant, Geriatric Medicine at New Delhi, has been conferred upon D Lit by MP Bhoj university on 1st October 2024.

Dr. Premkumar Balachandran, Senior Consultant and Clinical Lead at Chennai invited as a faculty at Institutes of hernia surgery and abdominal wall reconstruction, at the Harvard Medical School, Massachusetts General Hospital.

Dr. Premkumar has also been invited as faculty at the Hernia Society of India – National Conference held at Indore and delivered a lecture on management of “loss of domain hernias”.

Dr Rajul Rastogi, Professor, Department of Radiodiagnosis, Teerthanker Mahaveer Medical College & Research Center, Moradabad, UP has published paper “Machine Learning Based Framework for Lung Cancer Detection and Image Feature Extraction Using VGG16 with PCA on CT‑Scan Imagesin Indexed Journal (SpringerNature) Singh A, Dwivedi RK, Rastogi Rajul SN COMPUT. SCI.  2024;5:1040 (1-13 pages).

Dr Rajul, on International Day of Radiology has marked a new milestone in his academic career!! He represented his institute with ‘Oral Deliberations as well as Scientific Poster Presentations’ on an International Forum in International Conference in Magnetic Resonance Imaging (ICMRI 2024) in Seoul, South Korea. His name appeared on the Award Pillar of the Conference.

Dr Suneel Parvathareddy, Medical Director of Hospital Medicine at Wilkes Medical Center, has been named Chief Medical Officer (C-Suite), Wilkes Medical Center in addition to his current role.

Dr Suneel has also got the following achievements:

  • Received certificate for presenting his speech on “Project RISE-Transforming Patient Experience (HCAHPS) through Rural Health Innovations and Strategies for Equity – A success story” at the 14th Healthcare Health Conference held on 25-28 July 2024 in Dubai.
  • Received “Outstanding Immigrant Health Professional Award 2024” for being an outstanding Immigrant Health Professional on 11th October from Health for All, Inc., US.
  • He successfully passed certification exam conducted by American Board of Quality Assurance and Utilization Review Physicians® ABQAURP and warned CHCQM- Physician Advisor certification.
