GAPIO Members Honours list – February 2025.

Dr Amitav Mohanty, Senior Consultant, Internal Medicine, DNB Faculty and Course Director has achieved the following:

  • Presented a paper on Ceftazidime-Avibactam and Aztreonam, The Symbiotic Triumph at National APICON, Kolkata on 25th Jan 2025.
  • Contributed a chapter on MDR infections and Antibiotics in API textbook 2025.
  • Contributed a chapter on Mycetoma in Monogram of Infectious Diseases update 2025 published by API national body.
  • Presented a paper on Restricted Antibiotics in the Era of AMR at IMA-Academy of Medical Specialties, National Conference held at Bhubaneswar on 29th November 2024.
  • Participated in the 44th Annual Conference of the Association of Physicians of India, Odisha State Chapter held on 9th & 10th November 2024 at VSSIMSAR, Burla, Sambalpur as a FACULTY (SPEAKER) and as Officiating Chairman for APICON 2024.

 Dr. Ashish Aneja, Senior Medical Officer, Kurukshetra University, received fellowship in Diabetes and Best Doctor in Diabetes Care Award 2025, from Diabetes India and International Diabetes Federation during annual International Diabetes Conference held on 13-16 February 2025 in Ahmedabad.

Dr Ashish has organised a Free Cardio Diabetic health check-up camp on 26th February in Shiv Mandir, Kurukshetra. During this camp, free tests like Blood Glucose, BMD, Neuropathy, Spirometry, ECG were done, and free medicines were distributed among the needy patients.

Dr. Dilip Kumar Acharya, Honorary Fellow GAPIO & National Chairman, IMA Cancer & tobacco Control Committee received the IMA National award during the Annual National Conference of IMA held at Hyderabad on 27th Dec 2024.

Dr. J. Jayaprakashsai, IDF Fellow, Honorary Physician Austrian Consulate, Hyderabad has been conferred with Diabetes Fellowship by The International Diabetes Federation (IDF) for his contributions to diabetes management, education, and advocacy the field of diabetes care and research.

Dr. Kalipada Murmu, Consultant, (Gynae & Obs), has organised a medical camp in 2 villages, Babukdha and Jhelingseng situated near Ajodhya Hill Top in Purulia District of West Bengal in association with The Bengal Obstetric & Gynaecological Society (BOGS) and Purulia Rotary club.

Dr. Kandamaran Krishnamurthy, Consultant Pediatric- Intensive Care Unit from Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Barbados is one of the Global parity investigators and published an article, “Prevalence, aetiology, and hospital outcomes of paediatric acute critical illness in resource-constrained settings (Global PARITY): a multicentre, international, point prevalence and prospective cohort study” which is been published in “Lancet”.

Dr. Keerti Singh, Senior Lecturer, Faculty of Medical Sciences, Cave Hill campus, Barbados, University of the West Indies, has been elected as the Faculty of Medical Sciences Representative and the Executive Committee member of the West Indies Group of University Teachers (WIGUT) Barbados.

Dr. Lavanyakumari Thondavada, Consultant, Dermatology and Gerontology got Geriatric Society of Trinidad and Tobago (GSTT), which was founded by her in year 2023, in the newsletter, “NEWSDAY” of Trinidad and Tobago.

Dr Pakaj Garg, Consultant, Laparoscopic and Endoscopic Surgeon at Garg Fistula Research Institute, Panchkula, has been an invited expert faculty at Asian Pacific Federation of Coloproctolgy (APFCP) biennial conference held in Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia from 14 to 16 Feb, 2025. It was biggest conference in the field in Asia & Surgeons from all over Asia & Australia participated in this conference.

Dr Garg delivered multiple lectures on his innovations and was a designated expert in “Meet the Professor session” to teach surgical concepts to participating surgeons.

Dr. Premkumar Balachandran, Senior Consultant and Clinical Lead at Chennai took part as faculty and delivered a lecture on “Ergonomics in laparoscopic surgery ” in the “World association of laparoscopic surgeons 2025 conference held in Delhi on 7th and 8th of Feb 2025.

He was the organizing secretary of the “AWR Deep impact Surge ” conference held in ITC Grand Chola Chennai between 7th and 8th March 2025.  It was attended by more than 1300 surgeons of which we had almost 100 international faculty.

Dr Rajul Rastogi, Professor, Department of Radiodiagnosis, Teerthanker Mahaveer Medical College & Research Center, Moradabad, UP received “India’s Leading Healthcare Education Innovator-2025” award from Bollywood Diva Ms. Sonali Bendre on 3rd Annual Asia’s Leadership Awards-2025 event organized by The Universal Media on 28th February at New Delhi.
