Dr. Gyanshankar Mishra, Associate Professor, Department of Respiratory Medicine, Indira Gandhi Government Medical College Nagpur, has received the Publication Research Grant Award from the Maharashtra University of Health Sciences (MUHS) for his internationally collaborative, multicentric study published in the Indian Journal of Tuberculosis. The study, titled “Adverse drug reactions due to linezolid in the programmatic management of drug-resistant tuberculosis in India: A retrospective multicenter study”, provides critical insights into the safety profile of linezolid in real-world settings.  This is the first multicentric study focusing specifically on linezolid-related adverse drug reactions (ADRs) under real-world, programmatic field conditions in India, rather than controlled trial settings on patients with drug resistant TB receiving the longer bedaquiline-based MDR-TB regimen. It found that 42.45% of patients receiving the longer bedaquiline-based MDR-TB regimen experienced linezolid-related ADRs, with peripheral neuropathy accounting for 93.33% of these.
