Dr. Nandakumar Jairam has been an integral part of the Global Association of Physicians of Indian Origin (GAPIO) since its inception in 2011, serving as one of its founding Executive Committee members and contributing significantly to its mission and growth.
As President of GAPIO from February 2023 to January 2026, Dr. Jairam led the organization with exceptional vision and dedication. Under his stewardship, GAPIO strengthened its core mission of uniting the 1.5 million physicians of Indian origin across 59 countries, fostering global collaboration, professional excellence, and collective impact.
During his tenure, GAPIO expanded its outreach through impactful community service initiatives. Several large-scale health check‑up and medical service camps were successfully conducted in Kurukshetra (Haryana) and Sawaimadhopur (Rajasthan), bringing quality healthcare to underserved communities.
Dr. Jairam’s leadership also ensured the successful organization of major global events. GAPIO hosted three highly acclaimed annual conferences in Lucknow (2024), Mysore (2025), and Indore (2026), along with three international mid‑year conferences in United Kingdom (2023), Antigua & Barbuda (2024), and Kenya (2025)—further strengthening GAPIO’s global footprint.
A remarkable increase in GAPIO’s membership base was achieved during his presidentship, reflecting his commitment to inclusion, engagement, and professional enrichment. Under his guidance, GAPIO’s global representation expanded significantly, now spanning 59 countries.
Dr. Jairam also championed innovative collaborations, including partnerships with Docplexus and Medvarsity, to broaden GAPIO’s digital reach and educational impact. Previous initiatives such as virtual academic sessions—conducted in collaboration with various medical specialty associations—grew substantially under his leadership, increasing both frequency and participation.
Beyond GAPIO, Dr. Nandakumar Jairam is a distinguished leader in Indian healthcare. He currently serves as the President of RBANMs and has previously held key positions including Chairman, CEO, and Medical Director of Columbia Asia Hospitals, Chairman of NABH, and Professor & Head, Department of Surgery at St. John’s Medical College and Hospital.
His tenure as President of GAPIO stands as a period of growth, innovation, and amplified global engagement—leaving a lasting legacy that will continue to inspire the physician community worldwide.
