Clinical Knowledge Development Program (CKDP) by GAPIO
Global Association of Physicians of Indian Origin (GAPIO), a non-profit organisation established in January 2011. Padma Vibhushan, Dr. Prathap C Reddy, Chairman of Apollo Hospitals Group is the founder President of GAPIO. The aim of organization is to bring together 1.4 million physicians of Indian origin in the world on one professional platform. This substantial workforce of physicians is a valuable resource, which can help to mobilize significant developments in the healthcare globally. GAPIO has representation from 34 countries.
India produces more than 75000 doctors annually. Many of the MBBS and post graduate trainees do not get exposure to cutting edge technologies and latest clinical developments.
GAPIO has a vision and aim to train medical fraternity to enhance clinical skills of the young members to become effective leaders. Therefore GAPIO has embarked upon a Clinical Knowledge Development Program under Leadership Development Program in collaboration with Apollo Hospitals.
This program has been launched on the occasion of “Doctors’ Day” on 1st July 2019. More than 1,00,000 doctors were touched worldwide through social media.
In the first phase, the program will be held at total 12 locations i.e. Delhi, Ahmedabad, Madurai, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Mysore, Chennai, Mumbai, Lucknow, Kolkata, Bhubaneswar and Vizag.
Programs at these locations will be addressed by distinguished doctors who are members of GAPIO working at renowned and reputed institutions in Indian and overseas. GAPIO has more than 20 Dr. B C Roy awardees as members. Many GAPIO members are Padma awardees.
We are also starting a mentorship program. The mentor will guide young doctors about career development. Young doctors will be given an opportunity to interact with senior doctors through Face Time, WhatsApp or Google DUO wherever possible. There is a plan to record 100 videos of these doctors. Videos will be available on a specially created online platform – the GAPIO Resource centre and can be watched by doctors from the comfort of their homes in India and overseas.
