Know All About Our Different Learning Programs for Doctors – GAPIO
India produces more than 70000 doctors annually. Students from top colleges receive excellent clinical training but they lack soft skills as the curriculum does not include communication, time management and other such soft skills. Also, some students do not get exposure to cutting edge clinical developments.
GAPIO has a vision to train medical fraternity to become effective leaders. Therefore, GAPIO has embarked upon a Leadership Development Program (LDP) which focuses on soft skills and clinical knowledge development.
The 1st phase of Soft Skill Development Program was launched on 1st July 2017 on ‘Doctor’s Day’ through social media i.e. Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
Soft skills development
Soft skills development is undertaken by holding a training workshop where reputed trainers speakes on the selected topics like Improving Communication Skills, Time Management, Managing Change, Motivating Team Members, Understanding Budgeting /cost management/ finance and many other topics.
Clinical Development Program
Clinical knowledge will be enhanced through videos recorded by top doctors working in reputed institutions in USA, UK, Australia, Canada and India and through webcasts / webinars and mentorship program.
During phase 1, following 7 training workshops on soft skill enhancement have been held on 16th July 2017 at Delhi, on 20th August 2017 at Ahmedabad, on 10th September 2017 at Bangalore, on 15th October 2017 at Hyderabad, on 12th November 2017 at Kolkata, on 13th November 2017 at Guwahati, on 5th January 2018 at Mumbai.
10 training workshops on soft skill enhancement under Leadership Development Program, have been held in 2018 in phase 2 on 8th July 2018 at Indore, on 12th August 2018 at Pune, on 9th September 2018 at Bilaspur, on 6th October 2018 at Bangalore, on 18th November 2018 at Mysore, on 2nd December 2018 at Vizag, on 23rd February 2019 at Madurai, on 10th March 2019 at Ahmedabad, on 21st April 2019 at Bhubaneswar and on 16th June 2019 at Kolkata.
This training work shop on soft skills development helps doctors in creating increased performance in healthcare through improved people management and interpersonal interaction.
More than 1100 physicians have been trained during these workshops.
World renowned, international faculty Dr. Graham Dickson and Dr. Arun Garg, from Canada took a session on “Bringing Leadership to Life in Health” and exchanged their ideas and expertise on soft skill development at Navi Mumbai in January 2018.
These programs have generated a lot of excitement amongst the community of doctors. This was visible from the diverse group of doctors who had voluntarily registered for the workshops. Participants included HODs from premier institutions including AIIMS, top government institutes, clinicians, doctors from Corporates, PSUs, various hospitals, nursing homes and from USA, Canada, Australia, UK, Tanzania and Ethiopia.
