Prof. Anupam Sibal is one of the founder Executive Committee members of Global Association of Physicians of Indian Origin (GAPIO) since the inception of GAPIO in 2011

Prof. Sibal served as the President of Global Association of Physicians of Indian Origin (GAPIO) from January 2020 – February 2023. The aim of the organization is to bring together 1.4 million physicians of Indian origin in the world on one professional platform from 57 countries.

During Prof Sibal’s presidentship many community service and health check-up camps has been undertaken at Kurukshetra (Haryana), Shahapur & Thane (Maharashtra), Banaskantha (Gujarat) and Sawaimadhopur (Rajasthan).

3 annual conferences held at Ahmedabad (Phygital) and twice at Delhi (Virtual) and 1 midyear conference held at Vancouver (Virtual) in year 2022.

Under Prof Sibal’s leadership membership base of GAPIO has got major volume.

Worldwide representation of GAPIO has been increased to manifolds under presidentship of GAPIO.

Under the presidentship of Prof Sibal, the following new initiatives has taken place:

  • Constituted new awards in 6 categories to recognize and honor distinguished doctors from different specialties.
  • Constituted “Honorary GAPIO Fellow” award.
  • Honour’s List, which is being every month to honour the achievements of GAPIO members.
  • Women’s forum.
  • Young Doctor’s forum
  • Virtual sessions in association with different medical specialities associations.
  • Global Indian Physicians in News.
  • Position Papers.
  • Global Indian Physicians COVID-19 collaboration with AAPI, BAPIO, CINS, CAPIH and AIMGA.

Prof Sibal has been a paediatrician for more than twenty-five years. Prof established the division of pediatric gastroenterology and hepatology in 1997 at Apollo Hospital, Delhi. He helped set up the first successful pediatric liver transplant program in India at Apollo Delhi in 1998. Prof Sibal is also Group Medical Director of the Apollo Hospitals Group, India’s largest corporate healthcare provider since 2005.
